Project Peklat: Week 9
It's been nine weeks since I started this Peklat/Sebo de Macho experiment. My Sebo de Macho has officially hit pan bottom. So, for Php14 a can, this certainly proves that a little goes a long way.
I think there's really a tremendous improvement since I last blogged about my peklat. It looks flat now, the lumpiness is noticeable only if you look closely and touch it, which is really good news. From afar, or if you really have poor eyesight, it looks like a dark (ugly) bruise. It's also way smaller now.
I'm no longer in denial. I've accepted the fact that my scar will never completely heal. My knee will forever bear this mark. Since I don't have plans of joining a beauty pageant, I've come to terms with this, in a major, major way. Plus, this is a perfect excuse to try out those airbrush leg make up that everyone's been raving about.

Project Peklat: Week 6
I talked to a doctor/brother about my keloid worries. He impatiently told me and as I imagine trying to keep his voice from laughing, that unless you're a keloid former (the term he used), chances of a scar developing into a keloid is a medical curiosity. The lumpy appearance of the scar is directly proportional to how deep the wound is. But, the lumpy appearance may or may not disappear. So yey to no keloid! Boo to lumpy scar.
Anyhoo, there has quite been an improvement on over the last two weeks. My peklat is definitely smaller. Though the color is not yet even, it appears to be a monochromatic shade of flesh now. The other edges are not as dark brown anymore.
It's not as lumpy anymore!
Looks like there's hope for me yet.

Project Peklat: Week 4
There's been some improvement on Project Peklat.
Peklat is smaller this week but it has three distinct tones. White around the other perimeter, dark brown in the inner perimeter and light pink in the middle. A very small scar (not shown in the picture) has faded considerably and is now hardly noticeable.
I'm starting to think that this has nothing to do with the Sebo de Macho but is part of the scar's natural healing process.
I'm just worried about something.
Peklat is kind of lumpy. I'm starting to think that maybe I'm seeing the beginnings of a keloid. I googled keloid and now I'm scared. Nakakatakot talaga yung pictures. I think I need to talk to a doctor.

Project Peklat: Week 2
I've decided to name this Project Peklat for obvious reasons.
Week 1: Peklat is this reddish blob gaping at me.
This is how I do it.

Massage gently
Week 2:
With flash
Without flash (and at a different angle)
Looking at the pictures, I noticed some improvement in terms of the discoloration. Also, I think it's ever so slightly smaller than last week because I had a hard time taking a picture at a similar angle. Other than that, ang peklat ay peklat pa rin.
If you know of any product that works, let me know. Suggestions are highly appreciated.

An Ongoing Project
A few weeks ago, I was dragged by my dog. One thing let to another and I ended up with what I thought was a broken finger and a big wound on my knee.
A week after, as expected, the wound is now a huge ugly scar.
Gross!
I've been putting Sebo de Macho on my scar at least twice a day in the hope that the scar will stop looking like some sort of map. Let me just say, though I'm loving the creamy texture and the light buttery scent, it's been seven days and so far there are no visible changes yet. My brother who is a doctor told me not expect too much because as far as he knows, a product to remove scars effectively does not exist. His warning falls on deaf ears. I'm still hoping against hope that the generations of Filipinos who attest to the powers of Sebo de Macho are right.
